Retirees targeted by a wave of disinformation: "It's very well done and perverse," warns the Cnav

A persistent threat for several months. At the end of July, the National Old Age Insurance Fund (CNAV) alerted its beneficiaries to the proliferation of false information about retirement rights. In a press release, we learned that exaggerated promises, alarmist speeches, and even erroneous interpretations circulate easily online, on informal channels. A threat to 16 million people.
Among this false information, the Cnav cites a "secret device" not paid automatically, the withdrawal of rights , but also changed payment dates. Misleading disinformation that Renaud Villard, director general of the National Old Age Insurance Fund, wants to undermine, as he announced this Tuesday, August 5 on the RMC set.
The source of this rather rare statement from the Cnav's director general is that the organization has been observing a massive wave of false information on pension issues for "several weeks to several months." A rare phenomenon at first, then boosted by "artificial intelligence and armies of robots that generate false rumors about pensions," notes Renaud Villard.
The latter warns that unofficial sites regularly promote information urging retirees to register and provide information. "Often, the sites are well-designed, well-edited, very attractive, and always completely false." These are mushroom sites, which appear and disappear almost immediately.
According to the CEO, these fake sites come from a massive disinformation movement, "where it is fashionable to circulate false information" and "more perverse things, which encourage urgent clicking and where people can be tricked into disclosing confidential data."

For the CNAV, it is impossible to take legal action because the trail of the hijackers is so difficult to trace. But the fund notes that it is very sensitive to the international context: "many hacks originate from Russia and certain 'browsers' in sub-Saharan Africa."
To avoid being fooled, retirees are encouraged to seek information from authorized, free sources. "Our retirees are very well informed," announces Renaud Villard.
"The Retirement Insurance would like to point out that it is not necessary to go through paying service providers to obtain your rights or find out your situation," the CNAV reminds us.
